I still miss that 7x57 and I sold it over 30 years ago. Being a friend of Bill Ruger would have it's advantages in wood selection. I think if Ruger marketed the #1 as a semi custom rifle with nice wood and custom features such as case hardening, grip cap options and but treatments along with sight options they would sell.
They do make a nice platform for a custom gun however and I have less in the 300 H&H than I would if I ordered a Dakota M10 the same way.

Wow, forty rifles that will kill a deer. We're all afraid to ask how many shotguns you own that will kill a pheasant. You are definitely "The Man".

What can I say Bill, I'm a gun nut I subscribe to the philosophy of "It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it". I admit to having bird guns for early ,mid and late season in multiple gauges.
