A number of wooden shipping boxes have popped up lately for sale. They have all been slightly similar to each other. And many appear to have been modified in some ways to have hinges and handles and such.
I personally never got too excited about them since I could not really authenticate them, or be confident that they were legit. Some look too new, and others did not have any matkings to suggest they were from Parker, just Meriden railway labels.
This one seems to show some good age and looks like it could be legit.

I have also seen a lot of these old boxes repurposed for any number of uses. Back then, people didn't throw away anything that could be used. It's a sentiment that seems to be lost today. I even save heavy wall cardboard boxes, but then, I'm older than air, and think that way.

My wife's grandfather kept the batteries for his Atwater Kent in this egg crate. I suspect it held 11 dozen because that was the size of the wood available.
