Randy the 32" gun is chambered 2 7/8".
I am not sure about the 30" gun. Built in 1904 it is not as likely. I have shot 1 1/16 oz 2 3/4" Matrix out of both. I dont have any 3" 16 ga ammo for ducks. I look forward to the PP read!

For comparison: 16 bore vintage 2-9/16 and 3-inch, both roll crimped.

Milton, my nine pound 16 gauge VH is a 28" gun on a #3 frame. Nothing in the letter to indicate for what use this gun was intended. I seem to remember a discussion on this forum about another gun ordered by the same person that was also some sort of oddball. Oddly, my #3 frame 16 is fairly lightly choked. It shows wear consistent with many days enjoyed in the field. I have never measured the chambers and the letter doesn't specify anything odd in that category.

I agree with Charlie and Milton on the charm of my big gun. I'm just sorry it didn't come from the factory with sling swivels. I may try my local flooded timber area this season to see if Charlie is right. I have never hunted there, even though it is less than 20 miles from my house, and has been for my whole life. Now that I can't navigate in water, I get this tingle. Oh well. Actually, if I bite the bullet and hunt this timber next season, I will probably use my 32" DHE, which has sling swivels and sling and is a bit field worn.
