Fella's thank-you so much for your help....I had serious thought's on selling the gun at first .... but the damn thing grew on me!!!,everything else I own just pale's in comparison,it will be a happy day indeed when it down's the first grouse or ptarmigan (with me !)....with limited fund's it'll be a long road for sure ,but one that I can't wait to see the end of

Chris, in the case that you may not have received an answer as to the cost of dent removal and refinishing your Bernard barrels, I can't speak for those who do this kind of work but I think it could be done for about $400 US. My Bernard barrels were repaired and refinished by Dale Edmonds three years ago for $300 plus shipping.

Chilled shot ,what is that small circle just forward of the doll's head ? mine has a brass screw in the same location and I thought it was a poor attempt at a rear sight ...was I wrong ?

That roughly 2 1/2" doll's head rib extension is not only soldered into place but is screwed down before soldering and that "circle" is what remains of the screw after it was filed to conform with the concave of the rib extension. It is on all Parkers with the doll's head but not evident on all of them. It will normally show up darker on refinished barrels because it is of a different steel than the rib extension and today's barrel refinishers don't know how (or haven't attempted) to eliminate the disparity in shading.
