I did a DIY ptarmigan hunt a couple years ago in AK. It took us six days to drive up, and another six days to find a ptarmigan. I know that sounds like a crappie hunt, but quite the contrary. We had such a good time that we are doing it again this year. The season opens in south east AK Aug 1 and the rest of the state on Aug 10. I CAN'T WAIT.

It has been a few years but the Denali Highway towards Paxson was a place that had good numbers but maybe Richard would know better now. Thomas
