After a dove tower shoot

Some photos I took after shooting the dove tower at our Forest City Gun Club here in Savannah. Top gun is a beater early GH I saved, middle is a 0 Grade lifter that belonged to Austin Hogan and bottom is another GH. All 12 gauges. Also pictured is my trapper, Harry.

We have a gun club, with skeet, trap, 5 stand , sporting clays range, but no dove tower.What is it and how high?

It is a trap which is way up in the air in a metal box. The trap itself rotates back and forth and so the clays go out at different angles. You stand at stations, mostly to the side. It is a lot of fun, once you get the hang of it. It is hard when you first try it.

Mills, give me some information about your Austin Hogan lifter. I have an Austin Hogan 12 gauge lifter with Briley short 20 gauge tubes that do not fit my bores. Send me your bore dimensions so I can tell whether my tubes were actually made for your gun. These are short tubes, so bore dimensions do not have to be measured past about 16 inches.

Sure, this is one of the Parkers Austin left to the PGCA that they decided to sell a few years ago. Not sure about the bore dimensions and I don't have the equipment to measure. The barrels are 30 inches.

By the way, Mills, I shot the NSSA World Shoot twice at Forest City in the late 80's and early 90's, enjoyed success both times, shooting 539X550 both years. In the two years, I never missed a 20 gauge bird. I will never duplicate my scores again. I love Forest City, but the World Shoot was never held there again.

I remember that you have shot down here. The club has had it's ups and downs, but is on an up now. We have a great manager, energetic board, successful youth program and the club seems to get more big shoots

Mills, That sounds like a fun time, I haven't had a chance to go to a shoot like that yet. I could see where that would be challenging, but fun. Those are nice Parkers too. I like that lifter, the polished or in the white receiver looks great against the barrels and wood. That is a great looking gun!

Mills, Austin's other lifter is a real horse, #3 frame, 32" Twist Steel barrels, over nine pounds, and it's a 12 gauge. It is a very high number gun, one of the last if not the last lifter to leave the factory. I had been chasing that gun long before Austin got it. Austin would not sell it to me while he was alive. I bought it after Austin's death.
