Bill Erickson - If your barrels are undamaged, the too-snug fit on your forearm is likely due to a build-up of finish/patina/rust/dirt or whatever on the back-end of the front barrel lug. Next time you get the thing off, take a very fine grit sandpaper and LIGHTLY rub the back surface of the lug. I have refinished a few damascus barrels and even a few thou build-up of new finish can interrup the smooth removal and replacement of the forend resulting in my having to take the finish down to where the forend fits again. Have your barrels been redone at all? Is the forend difficult to put back on?
