The stock looks original to me, but the checkering has been crudely recut for sure.

I am certain Brian is correct on the originality. The stock has no finish, and looks dry, but could be brought back. The feature which attracted me to that gun was the unusual engraving ( and not much else) That's a lot of money for needing all that it does.

I looked at this also. If I remember correctly the checkered but will letter to the gun. The engraving is most unusual and for a #1 frame it's fairly light and would make a great upland gun. It needs some TLC but it's a great gun. This is a consignment gun for Steve so not much he can do on it. It was more than I was willing to pay for it.
