Hey Brian,
The lifter mechanism on this 12 gauge gun does not stay up when the barrels are opened or when you take them off the action. It stays in the fully downward position so when you try and put the barrels back on the action or close the gun you have to press the lifter to get the bolt to retract in order for the action to close. I have a 10 gauge lifter where the lifter stays up when the gun is opened and automatically released when you close the gun. Am I missing a part inside or was there a design change between 1876 and 1882?
