I will shoot ducks and geese with it this fall with my handloads, 1 1/4oz Bismuth. I have a soft spot for the big guns. A few years back I was thinking about an 8ga but they can't be used for waterfowl and the big 10's can still be used which is half the fun of owning these old guns.

Craig, does your letter tell you that the gun was made as a ten gauge or rebarrelled from eight gauge?
