I have both sold and bought there. I have come home with what I think are good values. My sales have brought home more and less than expected. It's an auction.....
For a comparison, when I was last there the number of people that attend is considerably larger than the ones I have been in at a James Julia's Auctions but I suspect the amount of dollars present in the room is considerably less that at Julia's. My only complaint with them is the same one I have with James Julia auctions: they don't call fair warning before hammering a sale, nor do they announce items being in reserve (if there are any at all). I'm not sure this helps you at all. I would say that they are in business and do a good job but like all businesses there will be happy and unhappy customers. |

Hello David,
I have looked at their Parkers as a buyer a few times and just found out today that I won one from their recent auction 2 weeks ago(my first bid with them). They had a few nice Parkers for sale and the hammer prices are now posted which may help you. While I didn’t buy anything all that special, if the gun is close to as it was described I will be happy. I think I paid a fair price(for both buyer and seller) though I bid sight unseen and hope the pictures and description were accurate. I’ll pick up the gun next Friday and follow up. Good luck with your decision, Jay |

I was there Jay and examined all the Parkers. Which one did you buy, if you don't mind saying?

Dean, I bought the Grade 2(or equivalent for the year) lifter 12 gauge Serial#3492. Straight stock with what looks like nice wood, damascus barrels with clean bores and described as having a slight play in the action. I couldn't tell from the picture but I believe it would have the "pin" the comes up when the action is open. I really like the early lifters and bid accordingly. Did you see it?

I was weighing that piece with another on GB, so went ahead and bought the GB gun. 17 days later I got an invoice from Amoskeag. It didn't brake the bank but I didn't need to buy two identical guns. To add insult to this, they have never sent me a catalog. Every other firm where I did bid successfully has sent me a catalog. Little details like that turn me off from future business. If they have something I can't live without, not likely at this stage in my life, I'll either ride up there or phone bid. |

Edgar, Same with me...I had no idea I won until yesterday. I had submitted a plus one bid and figured someone had outbid me. I thought I would have received an email(since they ask for it) and I submitted my bid through email. From the sellers perspective all that might not matter, other than it might not attract as many buyers if the after auction response time/notification is an issue.
I am hoping the rest of the transaction goes well and I like the gun. Dean's comment certainly made me feel better. If the rest goes well I'll likely bid with them again, I would just follow up after the auction by phone if there was a chance I might have won. |

David:
I have known the Devine family personally for many, many, years going back to when Jason was just a kid. Amoskeag Auctions is owned by Jason and Melisa Devine located in one of the old mill buildings in Manchester ,NH . Their integrity is of the highest standards . They have been in existence , I would say , some 15 years+/-, and have come a long ways from day one. If I were you , I would call Jason and speak to him personally. If you would like ,I will introduce you to Jason---give me a call @ 802-885-1152. Allan |
