In Vermont's NEK I have never seen a tick since 1956 when I started going there regularly until 4 years ago when I found one on me while sitting in turkey season. Now I see them pretty regularly but not many.
At home in MA I take about 6 - 12 off Grace every time I have her out for a good run.

In the 2 plus weeks I spent in the U.P. I only found two wood ticks on Daisy.

There were plenty of deer ticks in the UP and also back here in eastern Ohio. I run Seresto collars on the dogs.
Try this: you can buy permethrin 10% at any farm supply store--less than 10 dollars for an 8 ounce bottle. Put 5cc in 1 quart of water in spray bottle and spritz the dog down before putting him out--will make 30-40 gallons this way.

Worked great for me, also spray your pant legs before hunting
