Speaking of setters....how to put weight on one.

A Scottish game keeper I spent time with fed his dogs raw tripe. High in fat, and it was free, as he also stalked stags in the fall. Said it was the only thing that kept weight on his dogs when they were trialing, or picking up

Feed him any premium hi-performance food and he will bounce back. Too much weight on a dog is far worse than not enough.

I completely agree with you on that point Daryl.

A healthy dog is a slim dog.

I run 5-10 miles every other day, my bird dogs probably cover double that as they are off leash on trail, as a hunter, I refuse to have out of shape or fat bird dogs and be that way myself!
