I neglected to mention the short essay by Dean on Patina. Thanks for reminding us Dean-o.
I myself put a great price on original patina on a Parker and it always shocks me of efforts to wipe out patina by a thoughtless and un-necessary refinishing.
Of course, I have now realized a new way to help me build provenances for guns: DNA.
