Larry, my place is a stones throw from the Cussewago Bottoms (a hellish swamp bottom but full of backwater Beaver ponds and ducks) I have hunted from Shakleyville to the lake shore.. I hunt Albion quite often when the woodcock are on the move (along the creek). I once had an older gent (who was obviously thrilled to see me relaxing with the dogs on the tailgate) pull up to tell me I was a few weeks late.. What do you mean, I asked. They come around and over the lake and drop in here briefly, try a few weeks prior and watch the weather next year ,he said.. And so I did and had some fantastic and stupid days of lots of Woodcock.. Those kind of days are meant for that little 28 and a young pointing dog.
