Folks , Thanks for the warm welcome and the info on someone to look at my new gun,
Sorry for the late reply, got a call from the local game dept guy, guess I was next up on the list for a damage control elk hunt west of my place so I got to go out and shoot a nice big cow elk yesterday afternoon, the hardest part of the hunt was watching a monster 6x6 bull walk around after I crawled up on the herd. Thanks again for all your help I'll get signed up as a member and who knows there just might be another Parker in my future!! Fred |

That cow will be some good eating for sure. Was the problem control hunt strictly for cow or were bulls legal also? Another Elk hunt is on my list of things to do.

The damage hunts are for cow only, I'd have a house full of giant bulls if we could shoot them on these hunts!!
It's amazing how they know when there safe from the hunters, there were at least 30 bulls with all the elk I saw yesterday. |

Either way it's meat in the freezer. Our late deer season is antlerless only as well. I'm a rifle nut so I have to ask what did you use on the Elk?
