Well the seriel number on my W&C 10 is 30,9xx so that puts it at 1881 or 1882 . So thats easily the oldest gun I've killed a deer with !

And the seriel number on my Ithaca NID 10 is 434xxx which dates it at 1926 !

I have some #3 Buck loaded up for the right barrel in the Ithaca as well as the previousely mentioned 000 .

Ran across about 7 rounds of old 50's Winchester paper 10 gauge 2 7/8" 0 Buck that my grandfather had . If I can get to it this year I'll try and pop a deer with them in my W&C .

Here's a picture of one of the short 10 single 0 Buck loads . I had forgotten I took them with me for the last day of the 2012 Virginia Deer Season !

Congrats on the doe. Do those thermacells work as good as everyone says they do? I hunt in Rock Hall here in MD. and we are surrounded by water and the skeeters have been dreadful this year. Might have to invest in one of them if they are worth it. I'll hunt near Blackwater NWR in december and even then the skeeters can be a problem.

Yes sir I bought that thing specifically to use on the Blackwater !

And it works great as long as the winds not blowing hard .

I used to smear 90% Deet bug spray all over my hands and face . And I honestly think those little bastards in the marsh around Blackwater looked as the bug spray the way you or I would look at ketchup on a hamburger .

Since getting that Thermacell back around 2005 I think . I've had little problems with the flying buzzing critters of the Blackwater .

They aren't overly expensive I think you can get the unit and the little holster thing for about $30-35 .

I will not hunt the early muzzleloading season in Dorchester County without it . Very rarely need it for the gun opener but I usually take it along just incase it's unseasonably warm !

Daryl depending on what area I draw for the gun hunt on Blackwater I may very well take my little Savage 20 gauge rifled bolt action and this LC Smith loaded with 000 !

Actually the last time I carted two shotguns to my tree on the Blackwater I killed a 6 pointer . Hmmmm I wonder !
