In this time of powder shortages having more options is a good thing. I have been shooting 22 grains of Green Dot with 1 1/8 ounce for targets and 27 grains of Green Dot with 1 1/4 for hunting for a couple of years. The GD load you mentioned above was the inspiration for me to drop the powder charge and try the GD in the Short Ten. I recently began "experimenting" with Red Dot and settled on the 19 grain 1 1/8 ounce loading. For hunting I might try 1 1/4 with 20 grains of Red Dot. The Hercules data I found from 1968 had 1 1/4 ounce loads using 29 grains of Red Dot, I would not shoot that load in a fluid steel barrel, that has got to be a Boomer! Again I would start at 19 or 20 grains. Scott K. has been shooting 1 to 1 1/4 ounce with 700-x, a good powder but harder to find right now then the Dot powders. I wish I had access to a 10ga pressure barrel, if I did I would spend a lot of time coming with Short Ten loads for the more popular powders.
