Minwax paste wax is very similar to Johnson's. Works very well. Also good for barrels and other metal parts though not long term durable.

We would be surprised how durable a wax finish is on metal. In 1987, I bought a 682 Beretta that had the standard Beretta, almost parkerized, finish on the barrels. I didn't like it, so applied a coat of my Mom's Johnsons Paste Wax and buffed it well. Today, it is still shiny and shows no sign of returning to the factory matte finish. I don't remember ever redoing it, although I may have once.
