Drew,
eezox is great on modern firearms, we don't use it on vintage guns.
Quite often the protected area of original Barrels , under the forearm, will retain 100 % of their original contrast and finish. The finish is gently yellowed.Precleaning with mineral spirits removes the yellowed finish, which lead me to believe that the Barrels were finished with a natural oil based coating. After considerable experimentation we settled on an oil based coating to finish our Restorations. This finish is best maintained with the use of Watco. I try to use the same low-tech chemicals and finishes that the makers used 100 years ago.
