Well my debate with myself was resolved. I drove over 100 miles out of my way to see if there were any roosters along my favorite creeks. There were. Shot a nice one early on. Watched a few others put distance between themselves and us. Charlie was on scent often. Flushed a few hens. At one point she was on the creek bank, almost vertical. I was waiting for the flush but the bird was holding very tight. Charlie started digging into the snow and weeds, until she was half buried. She started to back out ever so slowly. She was probably on a 75 or 80 degree drop. Looked funny but she came out with "her" bird. It was a dandy rooster (I didn't wan't to have to explain anything to the game wardens had it been a hen). She had dispatched it with one bite. I think she had decided she may as well not bother flushing, just do it all until I get my percentage up.

Now having done the hunt, I'm in the dark at Brandon McD having a coffee with a couple more hours yet to drive. Obviously, I'm a confirmed upland addict. Sorry, no pics. Somehow the camera remained at home. Fun gettin' older. No, not an age thing just my own scatterbrain functioning.
Cheers,
Jack
