Fall Southern Side by Side/ Backwoods Quail Club
Not to keep beating a dead horse but just wanted to pass along a little info about last weekends shoot.
Main Event shot over two days ( you were able to enter both hammer and hammerless). They changed targets each day.
Big bore course for big bore prelim events on Thursday and Friday. (not a repeat for the main event. Totally different targets)
Sub gauge course for all four days. (Thursday and Friday then they changed it for Saturday and Sunday)
The longest back up we had was maybe 15 minutes and that was only once over all four days.
Targets over water, field shots, some with distance some close. Some off of towers/ lifts, trampolens, you name it.
Two five stands. One was designated for practice the other for the Parker vs LC Smith challenge.
Great targets on both.
They of course changed targets for the challenge shoot off from the qualifiing format.
There were trappers at each field. All very nice and did a great job.
Ricks team does an amazing job of setting targets and running the event.
Below is a list of all the events one could shoot: (not including Parker only events, IE: championship shoot/ north vs south/ etc)
1. 410 hammer and hammerless
2. 32 ga hammer and hammerless
3. 28 ga hammer and hammerless
4. 20 ga hammer and hammerless
5. 16 ga hammer and hammerless
6. 12 ga hammer and hammerless
7. 10 ga hammer and hammerless
8. practice five stand
9. Qualifying five stand
10. trap event (single trap)
11. long bird event
12. flurry event
13. Main event both hammer and hammerless
This place is set up for us to burn some powder if you want to.
All I can say is thank you Rick Hemingway and the staff at Backwoods for accomodating us shooters. I am already looking forward to next years event.
