Custom Parker Repro A1 2 bbl set.
I just finished up this Parker Reproduction A1 special project.
It was a big one.
This gun started out as an “in the white” 2 barrel set.
The customer wanted it stocked properly in the Meriden style and to his custom dimensions. This is like the 6th gun I have stocked for him and they have all been to his specific dims. Higher in the comb with a good amount of cast-off.
I was able to acquire a repro beavertail forend from another contact of mine so that each barrel set could have its own forend. The splinter for the 28” barrels and the beavertail for the 26” set.
I did a lot of metal work to the gun off the bat. Refining the lines on the frame. Removing the belly in the frame and forend iron. Taking the hump out of the top lever, thinning the back of the trigger guard bow, adding the 4th bead to the frame and making the high grade style safety button.
The gun was stocked in wood supplied by the owner and in a round knob pistol grip. The skeleton buttplate is an original meriden piece so it is appropriately sized for the 1-1/2 frame gun. The extensive checkering on the stock set is completely cut by hand, as usual with me.
The gun was engraved by Bertram Edmonston IV at Artistry Unlimited in PA. In his signature style scroll with the likenesses of the owners dogs in the side fame scenes. He also hand engraved the Parker Peerless Steel markings ln the barrel ribs. The engraving walks the fine line between modern and traditional nicely. Case colors are by Turnbull. Bluing and jeweling were done in my shop.
