Nobelsport 209 primers in 10,000 count boxes
Just recently Nobelsport 209 primers were attractively priced in 10,000 count boxes at about $450. plus sales tax here in PA ..... much less expensive alternate to Cheddites and other 209 primers. Here's some info for those who’ve started using them.
The Nobelsport (NS) 10,000 count box contains (ten) trays of 1000 primers each and of course a 1000 count tray can’t be loaded into a MEC or similar primer feeder that’s designed for the regular 10 x 10 (100) count primer trays we’re all familiar with.
Just to show what can be done, I’m posting a collage of pics showing a small magnetic tool that’s made from a thin sheet of paneling attached to a handle (epoxied) and with a facing of 30 mil magnetic sheet from Amazon that’s also been epoxied to the opposite side of the paneling piece. The face of the tool is sized to exactly cover 10 by 10 (100) primers and it’s used to transfer 100 primers from the 1000 count tray to the empty 100 count trays we’re all familiar with.
In use the tool is slid sideways over the tray of 1000 NS primers, the tool is then lifted along with the 100 primers that are attracted to the magnet, and then it’s placed over an empty 100 count tray that has the same spacing as the Nobelsports. The primers align and fit into the empty holes and then the tool is slid sideways to release the primers. Fiocchi and Remington 100 count trays have the same spacing as the Nobelsports, but Cheddite trays have a wider spacing and won’t work. I've never used Winchester or Federal 209 primers and don't have any 100 count trays to try, thus I don’t know if they would work. Not to worry, some of my friends have used a band saw to cut empty Nobelsport 1000 count trays into pieces that hold 10 x 10 (100) primers.
All of this is a little hard to describe but if you look at the pics it should make sense. The last two pics show a diameter comparison of Nobelsport and Cheddite primers.
