I've been buying good papers at gun shows for some time now and have plenty for occasional use while hunting. I focus on those made in the later 50's to early 60's, and most will fire loud and crackly as when new. Paper shells with powder or primers that have soured (creating hangfires or duds) can generally be seen with corrosion on the top of the brass base or around the primer pocket. Sort those out when buying.
