John? R. Hamil lists his address in ATA records as Box 151, Holandale, Mississippi. In 1926, he shot 2900 16 yard birds and had an astounding .9541 average, earning him a place in the national average leaders for those shooting from 2000 to 3000 birds. His handicap average in 1926 was .8880 on 500 birds. His handicap yardage may have been pretty long. In previous years, he shot very few or no birds. After 1926, he also shot fewer birds and tapered off to none in a short time. In the years he showed no birds shot in ATA competition, he may have lived in another state. I have no information on his gun or what shoots he participated in. Drew Hause contacted me about finding this information for you. Please let him know what you have found.
