Thanks to Mr. Carr and his work with the Arizona Game and Fish Department, I was able to complete a long time dream of hunting with an 8 gauge. I loaded up 8 shells with 4.5 drams of 777 and 1.5 oz of 7.5 lead. I traded out my Sterlingworth 20 ga with my W.H Tisdale 8 ga after early morning success. Unfortunately I did not succeed in hitting any quail with the 8. Walking around and trudging up and down all day with a 12 lb 8 gauge was exhausting, but just to get to shoot the 8 gauge at game was an unforgettable experience. I will have to load more and try again next week. After a day of abhorrent shooting I finally got warmed up with the Fox Sterlingworth and managed to make one of the finest shots of my hunting career on a crossing shot on a quail rocketing past me at about 40 yds.
