Definitely not a dumb question at all Joe. And that is great
looking bag ye got there.

Back in the days when I used to go to the muzzle loader shoots,
one of he big topic of discussions at times was the possibles bag,
and the proper wear of it.

Some always said high just under the arm pit and others said it
should hang at arms length.

I have no idea how the name speed bag came about.

I think it is a carry over from the muzzle loading shotgun era.

A shot gunners possibles bag if you will.
