Weren't most of the small bore guns with no safety ordered by the gentleman quail hunter in the south?? No need for a safety when one only loads a gun when walking up on a covey that is being pointed by a brace of fine dogs. But then, I have heard of guys that don't use the safety on their modern guns. Why take the time to flip it off safe when a bird is flushed....
