This is certainly a fine gun. And well done per Mr. Barclay's usual high standards. I wouldn't fret the wall thickness. It has ample. And it passed proof. What's to worry?
I would not fire 3" cartridges in this gun. Ever. There would be little point, since it is a shooting treasure, not waterfowl artillery any longer.
