There's a nice article by ballistician Tom Roster in the new Sporting Clays magazine on how nice 10 gauge guns are when weighing in at 9 to 9.5 pounds and shooting much lighter loads than the heavy magnums put up in 3.5" factory ammo. The article isn't too technical and it doesn't mention short tens per se, but it does underscore what many of us know about this wonderful combination. A good read.
