There are others that know a whole lot more than I do about the original Philly-built A. H. Foxes, but I do know that there were a few that left the factory in Philadelphia with skeleton steel butt plates. See Tom Kidd's article in the DGJ Vol. 3 Issue 2 page 29 for one of them.
