I took this picture today on the Shawsheen Flats here in Andover Ma. That is not open water on the river - it is about a foot of solid ice.
This mated pair of swans flew out from these flats in early December, just before the stillwater began to ice up and now, here they are again but they have a long wait for nesting season.
