Default Southern SXS Info

All,

The PGCA will be actively participating in this years 2012 Southern SXS event on Friday April 27th through Sunday April 29th.

The PGCA has arranged for a block of rooms at the Hampton Inn in Sanford, NC. As of this writing, we have been informed that the block is currently full. There are other hotels in Sanford and members that do not have arrangements currently made are urged to make arrangements as soon as possible.

The PGCA will once again have a large tent near the 5 stand area that will be shared with the LC Smith organization. There will be approximately 5 display tables available to members to display guns on. This year's theme is "Back and forth guns" and "guns with interesting PGCA research letters." All guns on display will be expected to be shown with their PGCA research letter. In previous years, this has been a wonderful opportunity to see many interesting guns and 2012 wont disappoint. For details on table space, please contact Josh Loewensteiner or Dave Suponski.

The shooting opportunities will be present and the signup is expected to be the same as in past years with members signing up at the PGCA tables on a first come first served basis.

We wish to welcome Carl Brandt into the role of coordinator for the PGCA in making our shooting and competitive venue happen. Carl has been working hard on the event and it will exceed our expectations.

For those of you who have commented on this year's 2012 Raffle Gun it too will be on display. We will have raffle tickets available at the event. This is a great opportunity to bring a friend or family member to the event to welcome them in to the world on fine guns and shooting. The PGCA would love to welcome as many new members to the organization as we can during the event.

We are looking forward to seeing you on 4/27 - 4/29.

Can we get a PGCA letter on the raffle gun? It may create a bit more interest.

I think posting a scan of the letter would be nice. Not all of us will get to view the gun in person. Josh, are you going to post the letter on this thread or have you posted it somewhere else?

Josh,

Ask mark to send (email) me a copy too and I will post it to the web with the pictures and information already shown there (it's on the PGCA Store and Events pages).

Josh, thank you for your great scan. Mark, thanks for the letter. The Meacham company was a real piece of history in the American West. They took early Sharps military rifles and converted them by the hundreds to useful sporting rifles. Meacham Sharps conversions are a very important part of Sharps rifle collecting. The Meacham connection to our high condition raffle gun will be important to savvy collectors. A Meacham Sharps conversion from the same era in this condition would be a collector's dream. Our Parker is also a collector's dream. Ed Morgan will be happy.
