Default Unexpected VH

Howdy All,
As some of you may know, I am in the middle of an Ithaca crass model double restoration. It's coming along well except a needed buttstock.
I recently placed a bid on a DH 20 bore in the Louis Vaillant estate auction and won. I'm pretty excited over this gun. I'm not expecting too much for the total of $520 including shipping. It's due to arrive tomorrow (Wednesday the 5th). I will post photos to share with everyone.
Yesterday in a local firearms forum I saw an ad for Parker VH $500 obo.
Long story short, I'm not going to pass on a decent VH 30" 12 bore for $400.
Looks like it's going to be a two Parker week. If this is an addiction, I'm in trouble. Here's a couple photos of the VH and it's unoriginal buttstock.
Check out that palm swell.

Nice $400 VH. Tell us more about the estate auction where there were $520 20 gauge D Grades.

Bill,

I hope it's all good. The auction house described the DH 20 as damascus barreled. The two cheesy photos made the barrels look like Titanic steel.
The rest seems accurate. We should know "the rest of the story", tomorrow.
Fingers crossed.

Kind regards.

Jeff

Yep,

It's a DH 20 bore on a 0 frame with 28" Damascus steel barrels. The bores are in very good condition. It's going to need a new buttstock of D grade quality at some point. This gun spent most of its life within forty miles of Meriden Ct.. Manufactured in 1901. I will send for a letter.

Best regards,

Jeff

Howdy Bill,

I did see the cased Charles Daly and the .36 cal Navy Colt.
I think the Daly went for a grand + 15% the Colt $900 +15%
and the little Parker Bros. an astonishing $400 +15 %.

When I received the phone call from Fairfield auctions saying that I had
won the Parker auction, I about fell over!

I'm really looking forward to taking some pictures of it, probably this weekend.
I will post them on a new thread.

Kind regards,

Jeff
