Chantilly VA Gun Show This Weekend
Kevin McCormack and I will be at our normal location at Chantilly starting today. Some regular exhibitors are Roger Bain, John Allgood, Monty Whitley, David Condon and a few others. I think we have lost Phil Futrell from Mid South, but he may surprise us. Come on down. Kevin usually has a few cases to sell. Many PGCA faces are seen, including an occasional appearance from Jim Hall, Mark Conrad, and others. Show opens to the public at 3:00 PM Friday and 9:00 AM Saturday, 10:00 AM Sunday.

Mr. Futrell happily was there with seven tables of neat stuff. Everyone else I mentioned was there. One disappointing aspect was the news that Richie Wingle has passed away, on June 23 I hear. We saw Richie at the Northeast Shoot at Ernie's, but he was very frail. I asked our good friend Morris Baker if he would take a picture of me and Richie together since we go way back and Richie and I both knew that his time was short. Unfortunately, the picture was not taken because Richie left early after buying a gun, which apparently was his last defiant act. It was a piece of crap, but Richie has alway had a reason. I talked to Richie at Allentown a while back while he was paying for an outrageous English hammer gun. I inquired about his "still buying guns". He answered "Would you buy that gun?". I had no answer for him. I could tell Wingle stories for a while, and you may hear one or two. He was a scary character for some, but once you got to know him, there was no comparison.
