Default The VH failed me today.

Knocked down a hen with my utilitarian 12g VH this morning, carried her around in my vest for 4 hours until I nabbed another rooster. The hen did not move a single time in my vest. Stopped at a lunch spot for some grub, went into the bed of the truck afterwards to get my water out of my vest and here she is staring at me. After a comical chase around my truck bed I maintained my 2 bird limit. It was almost as if someone threw a fresh hen in my bed and took the one I harvested earlier.

Seasons off to a weird start in PA…

That's one way to keep them fresh.

More years than I care to think of ago my buddy shot a mallard drake, wrung its neck, put it in his belt and we continued to hunt potholes in hip boots. Half an hour later we had to cross a fence, put our guns and birds down, and the mallard took off, never to be seen again. Hence, the moniker "the Immortal Duck".

Dylan, that hen is one of "the undead". Be afraid. Be very afraid.
