Default Remington Skeet Checkered Butt

Thought some of you might like to see some of the steps involved in shortening a checkered butt on a VH Skeet gun. Our client wanted a 1/2" removed. This required new wood plugs, shaping to match the original contour and of course checkering and finishing to blend everything together.

Very well done, but dang I hate to hear about someone shortening a stock or set of barrels.

Been there done that. And as long as you are careful, you dont have the touch the finish on the sides of the stock.

I likely can guess who owns the gun.

I find most skeet guns have long lop, 14 1/4 inch to rear trigger position with the single trigger gun, you would think it would be closer to 13 1/2 for standard lop??

Nice work! I have seen two different checkered butt patterns over the years. The one shown here and the other was sharp points, kind of like the bottom of the subject pattern. Were there any other patterns of checkered butts anyone else has noted?
