Default Extra Internal Bore Taper - Remington Era

This weekend I was measuring the internal bore diameters of two Remington Era Double Trap guns. I'm wondering if others can measure their Remington guns and tell me if this is common to all or just limited to Double Traps.

After the chamber and forcing cone, these two guns had an additional taper of about .015 to the final bore diameter. This taper was about 8" long which ended at a point about 12" from the breech. (See attached sketch).

Info on all Remington guns (Skeet, Trap, Game) wanted for possible PP article.

Thanks,
Carl.

Carl,

How long were the chokes?
I believe this was also employed by LC Smith.
Remember our discussion re: a certain fox gun and how its barrels blueprinted.
I will check TPS tonight to see if anything is in there.

John,

That is one of the data points I didn't write down. I was in a hurry to get choke constriction and as I fooled around with the gauge I got more and more interested. Its difficult taking accurate readings alone so I may enlist your help this weekend if you don't mind. I'd like to do a very scientific set of readings on both guns.

Thanks,
Carl.
