Bass Pro now has Macks Prairie Wings as well.

I stopped at the Cabela's in in Gainesville, Virginia earlier this week. To me, they are no different than Bass Pro now. The same stuff, with nothing special. Zero 16-gauge shotshells.

I was going to check out the Gun Library, but it was locked with a sign on the door that said, "Firearms appraisal in progress."

A complete waste of time.

Default Half the price or twice the price

As it has already been stated Cabela's is either half the price or twice the price. I saw an Perazzi MX-12 on line at an out of state Cabela's for half of what it was worth, so I said send it to my store. When I went in to inspect it there was a large stainless steel Briley case sitting there. I thought what the heck is this. And the guy said "that's your gun in there". So, I opened the case and it was lined in blue velvet like material. There was a tab sticking out of the lid, so I pulled that down AND there was a brand new set of Briley subgauge tubes! The Cabela's guy looked at me and said "What's that?" and I said oh those are just the subgauge tubes that come with these Perazzis. To which he replied "Oh, okay". They obviously didn't know they were there when they bought the gun. Cabela's; you've got to love them -

Anyways, if they wont take the C&R - a 4473 check is no longer as backed up as it used to be, at least in my experiences, and your already in the store, i don't see the deterrent. I would actually be very suspicious of someone with a C&R that would not do a 4473.....a lot can happen in 3 years.

Cabelas and guns as a whole is not good in my opinion, they are usually 10x price, except the 1 time they are 1/2 price. And you are entirely on your own in terms of assessing condition / questions. No one knows squat.
I am not familiar with other states but in Kentucky it is almost a checkmark formality if you have a Concealed Carry Permit. They simply record the CCP and your DL and away you go. In our state the State Police runs a violation check every 30 days and the dealers are allowed to bypass the call in check. I send to a cheap local dealer when a remote seller won't transfer to a C&R. Only downside is the cost. A lot of residents have stopped renewing their CCP since our laws have changed and everyone is allowed concealed carry. I keep mine actually for the transfer system, in addition to reciprocal agreements.
