Top lever position on a parker means nothing. All that matters is if the gun is tight or not.

To me when a top lever gun is locking up to the right of center I become suspicious of the amount of wear and use a gun has seen. Peening the lug is a quick cure for tightening a gun up that has no wear plate.

"Right of center" would mean that the gun is not broken in yet or has some dirt in the locking mechanism.
