Default Parker Shotshells

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=221727977

This might be interesting to watch! The '28' may be a .58 caliber shotshell, by UMC, for the original 58 caliber musket conversions. The seller has been selling off a large collection and has been doing rather well. Cheers!

When I was negotiating for the purchase of a 28 gauge Parker from another teenager in 1960, he explained that the gun would not accept factory shells and he was handloading .58 caliber brass shells that he had in quantity and fit the gun just fine.

Hmmm....interesting! I threw a bid out just to be sociable, but I know that bidding will go out of sight in the last couple of hours. Those shells will draw a good price.

Bill, wasn't that gun the reason for the rim recess reamer you sometimes speak of?

Yes, a trait of early 28 gauge Parkers is a rim recess that will not accept an American made post war 28 gauge shell. I believe Winchester purposely promoted their ammunition division, as well as Federal and Remington, to enlarge the rim diameter so that the Model 12 Winchester 28 gauge would eject shells reliably. Unfortunately, the new shells would not fit in a Parker.
