Default Pattern Density

While rummaging around in my reloading room this morning I came across a couple of dozen 12 gauge unslit steel shot wads that I had saved from stripping a few boxes of steel shot ammo purchased from a local dealers closeout sale. I am planning on loading these up with 1 1/8 oz. of # 7 1/2 shot to see if they will pattern tighter than the 12S3 wads that I currently use for trap shooting.
I will be going for pattern density rather that speed and will take pressure into account also. Has anyone tried this and, if so, have you found any difference in your patterns?

I have tried unslit wads vs. slit wads for turkey loads I have hand loaded and I have not seen much of a difference in patterning out to 40 yards.
