I see "Tarnation" and "Big Friend Ten" and others. What have I missed?

Not being very computer savvy myself I'm confident that John with all his knowledge of computers and the internet is doing the right thing to protect our privacy. My only problem right now is trying to figure out who's posts I'm reading. Perhaps if we all at least for a while ended our posts and reply’s with our first name it will help each other recognize who we are communicating with. Larry

Larry,

Don't you remember me shooting my Big Friend Ten at Hausman's?

One can click in the monkier (screen name) and see their real name.

Great!

Um...so if Destry comes around again, does this mean his user name will display as "Market Hunter (The member formerly known as Destry _____?)

Eightbore, 16 0-Frame, all those classic names, wow - getting nostalgic for the good ol' days coming back. Now ya'll play nice and don't snipe someone's former username because you liked it better than yours! I'm going back with my old one.

Mark, how could I forget! Thanks for the heads up on the moniker click. I'm sure John mentioned it somewhere. I guess I need to pay more attention to the details.

Default Use Of Nicknames ... A Bad Idea

Speaking for myself, I think the use nicknames is a BAD idea that will surely lead to confusion, deception, or downright dishonesty ... Members of the PGCA and members of forum are all men and women of honor, so WHY would anyone who thinks they have something legitimate to contribute choose to hide behind the anonymity of a confusing, childish nickname ? Any newcomer seeking information about Parker shotguns or anyone who thinks he or she has something legitimate to contribute to the PGCA or the forums should also have the gumption to sign their REAL name to whatever they post ... Just MY opinion ... For whatever it's worth.

Jim, if you haven't done so you should read John Dunkles thread on the reasons this has been done and all of the refinements he has made to it. It is a security issue that I couldn't agree more with that protects each and every PGCA Member.

Not everybody who reads these assorted internet gun forums has "good intentions", some are looking for useful information that will help them find a disclosed and unprotected cache of valuable guns.

Newcomers can still see and use all the information we all supply in our discussions but can no longer see our identity until becoming a PGCA Member.... then we can all see each other's identities and we can all see his or at least, if he wishes his information remain private, at least John can see his information.

It's ALL good.

Dean ... I read John Dunkel's post, and sent him a PM a few days ago but haven't received a reply ... I've been a PGCA member for several years but I only see nicknames when I go to the PGCA website ... Your name came up as "Chilled Shot" when I got on the website but I already knew who you were because I had gotten an automatic email with your real name saying that you had replied to my post ... So if, as a PGCA member, I'm supposed to be seeing everybody's real names when I get on the PGCA website, it's NOT happening ... And, if I'm doing something wrong, I hope somebody will take the time to enlighten me.

Respectfully, Jim Kucaba ... AriZOOna Cactus Patch ... Email: JimKucaba@aol.com

Jim---you can see the member's real name by clicking on their forum name on the upper left side of their post. Example: click on "Gabby" to see who posted this message.
