Default DHE with plastic butt plate?

I have recently acquired a 12 ga DHE, I believe it has likely been restocked as the condition of the wood surpasses that of the metal. The butt plate is plastic with a "widow's peak" at the heal. Was this style of butt plate ever used on a Parker?

Thank you.

Yes, that style was used on Parker shotguns but the standard butt treatment for a DHE would have been a skeleton steel buttplate or a recoil pad. Only rarely and by special order only would a hard rubber or "plastic" buttplate have been fitted to the D-grade.

As you suspect, it is most likely a stock replacement. Can you post pictures of it?

Todd,
You can check the stock wood under the triggerguard to see if the serial number is impressed in the wood along with the grade #. Photos of the stock posted here would yield some informed opinions about the correctness of the stock. If in doubt a letter could be ordered that might or might not answer the
question of originality of the buttplate.

Thank you for the replys. I suspect it was a well done replacement and am happy with the purchase. It fits me adequately and is a 28" barreled single triggered gun so whether all original or not I bought it to use, as well as admire.

You never know. I have a CHE with a DHBP. It was re-stocked by Remington in Ilion. They used what they had.
