Very nice David. Finally found your C 16 I see. Not that many out there and I look forward to seeing the whole gun some time.

I have found that C's widely vary. About half of them are standard engraving and standard C checkering, but the other half can be about anything. I have not seen this specific checking style before but you might recall that a few months ago we posted pictures of a C 12 from CH that had little arrows in the checkering, something like yours, and I re-post those photos below. Note the double mullered border, very unusual.

My guess is its about a 226 or 228 SN gun. It would be interesting to see if a research letter had anything about the checkering. Going to bring it west next fall? If you do , we can put four or five C 16's together.

Congratulations.

Russ
These did not come out very sharp. Nice pheasant on the trigger plate but have not been able to get a decent picture.

David , The gun is beautiful ,looks like very high condition ,nice colors ,What is engraved on the bottom of the receiver seems the C's had quite a variation of engraving styles also !

Hi David,
That's a great looking and very unusual C grade. Try setting your camera to it's macro setting and use natural light and you should be able to get some good detail of the engraving. I would really like to see the pheasant on the floor plate. Larry

Dave
I am not going to Pintail Point again. Too far away and got tired of the venue.
