Buddy, I will surely miss this great old guy! His tales of quail hunting in Tidewater VA in the 1930s and '40s were priceless. We sat for almost an hour discussing the finer points of "Seniors' Tennis" (I think it was the Southern SxS) years ago. What a live wire!

I was just talking to Rich Anderson about Hick, wondering how he was doing. His stories about duck hunting and quail hunting in the day..... kept both of us just listening. He would go along with us as we shot a round and tell us different stories, we always offered him a gun but he passed and then tell us another story. What a wonderful man that will be greatly missed. We lost another "good one". Eric

Now there's a Southern Gentleman who will be missed. As was said before, RIP Hick - you've brought pleasure to a lot of us here on the PGCA Forums and in our journal.

My son Edward and I used to shoot skeet with him at Oceana NAS. He was originally from Kansas City (I think) and came to Va when he joined the Army Aircorp near the end of WW2. He was around 17 or 18. He said he learned to fly Thunderbolts, but never saw action as the war ended. He met a nice girl and settled down in Norfolk. He was a great guy and full of stories. I remember him at one of the early Southern SxSs having a cool one with another dearly departed PGCA member (Rodger the Codger). They were two happy and contented men. There's a picture of them floating around here somewhere.

Hick was some gunner. However, he would not participate in the shooting activities at the Southern, even though I and several others offered to provide him with guns, ammunition, and entry fees. I could listen to him for hours. Sadly, he would not come back to visit for the last several years. See you soon, old hunter.

I just wonder if I may have come in contact with him at Arrowhead , Gretna , The Great Eastern in Richmond , Fairfax , Fredricksburg or Piedmont at a NSSA shoot .
