Refurbish Matting on rib of CHE

I have a CHE whose barrels were refinished by a previous owner. In the process they polish away much of the detail in the matting pattern on top of the rib. Is there anyone who can restore the barrel rib matting ?

I too have been wondering about this. As I have a few barrels that may need some work. I will be interested to hear other feedback.
I have contacted CSMC previously about this and that was a dead end. I know that Turnbull has the capability to re roll stamp the makers marks, but rib matting was not part of that discussion I had with them.

The speculation about needing an engraver's services is correct. However... I would predict the fee for such a large job would be well beyond the value of any but the most high end Parker. A CHE might barely qualify.

I'd contact engraver Noelle Feucht at 203-788-4828 and see how she might view the job.

I agree that engraving a complete rib would be in no way cost effective. But spot repairs, like knicks and dents, would be best done by an engraver without too much trouble. At least I would think.

When I spoke with Turnbull a few years ago about the roll stamping, I was inquiring about a Parker that had the all too often seen holes drilled and tapped through the makers mark from iron sights. They said they could fill the holes, wipe out the makers mark and re roll it on for a ballpark price of $500. That is if I remember correctly.

Personally, if the matting was completely wiped out on a barrel, instead of engraving it, I would be looking at putting a replacement rib on.
