The early grade 2 frames were sculpted. Book lists it as a D3. Definately a grade 3 , wood and engraving, just unusual bolsters. There were 4 or 5 like guns made at same time according to serialization book. Maybe they were rounded also. Pictures in a few days.

My B Grade lifter which I posted as a thread and album was ordered with an "egg shaped" action. Those bolstered are highly engraved.

Thanks Mark for the lead. Beautiful gun by the way. That is exactly what I was looking for. I guessed special order. This one is not as highly engraved for sure. Was your letter interesting on that B grade? Thanks Dave

The 4-pin lock plate definitely identifies it as a Grade 3 or above - and it is obviously a Grade 3 despite the "egg-shaped" breech balls.

Who built the stock on the D2? It looks like it was built for modern shooters with the comb elevated above the grip.

A friend of mine did the stock work. And yes it was built to my specifications. He picked out the wood, from his collection, and I was surprised when I picked it up. At 11 lbs. it feels like a waterfowl gun, but so far have only collected a coyote. I am trying to figure out what to do with the lifter D grade. Its all there but quite rough. Any Ideas?
