Beg your pardon everyone, I thought he was closer to San Diego - my mistake.

You’ll be surprised with Dave’s turnaround time. I sent him a hammer gun with a missing hammer last week and he just called to let me know it’s finished! I had sent him a pair of hammers from Peter Dyson in the UK. You might want to check out Dyson hammers as I found them to be closer to the original than Dixie hammers.

I’m finally getting my gun back in a month and half. I picked up a pair of hammers from Dixie gun works. I traced the one existing hammer and emailed it to the Dixie Works gunsmith to match up with what they had. I sent my gun home with a buddy who operates and owns a guns smith shop and had the hammers sent to him. Cant wait to pull the trigger when it comes back. The only other stamping I could find on it was “FR”. I know Charles Daly was an importer and dod not produce firearms. Could the FR stand for Franchi or France?

Update. I had the Dixie gun works hammers installed. I refinished the wood furniture and refinished the barrel. I was told on another forum my gun was produced in 1873. I’m working on finding load data currently. Picked up a lee loader, powder, primers, wads, shot cards, and will used once fired shells.

			I’m getting there. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Number 5 RST’s work decent but I’d like a tighter pattern. Last edited by Cory Rams; 03-13-2021 at 02:18 PM.. |

Congratulations on getting your hammer situation solved, but we would like to see pictures of the result.
